  • In 1991 the Commonwealth Parliament successfully voted into existence a formal process for Aboriginal Reconciliation.

The goals of this process primarily involve the recognition of the right of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as First Australians, to express their cultures and participate on an equal basis in all aspects of Australian life.

The work involved to attain these goals will take many years and a great deal of change in attitude by all Australians .

Through cooperation and allowing for differences at all levels of society, there is hope that the invaluable knowledge and strength of the Aboriginal people will become a significant part of main stream Australian life.
